Good afternoon Parents/Guardians,
Plans are under way for our annual Fun Fair! Please mark on your calendars the evening of Wednesday, June 28th for our community event, which is sure to be a wonderful way to come together and celebrate the end of another school year.
It is worth noting that at last year’s Fun Fair, our School Council collected a number of parent signatures on a petition concerning pedestrian and road safety at the intersection of Brando and Golden. This petition led to some action and consultation with the Active and Safe Routes to School Co-ordinator for the Board, which eventually led to a traffic operations assessment of the intersection by City of Markham staff. As a result, and with thanks to the School Council for keeping this issue on the agenda, the recommendation to City Council will be that an all-way stop be implemented at the Brando/Golden intersection. While we may not see the change until the summer or even the fall, we are very pleased with the outcome and the impact that a new all-way stop will have on improved community safety.
