Winter Well-Being Electives Ellen Fairclough PS.

Friday February 26th and Friday March 4th

E.F.P.S. is excited to again offer two days of electives for our students this year! Electives give students a chance to experience a variety of learning activities they might not have had the opportunity to try before, allowing students to explore a new area of interest or discover a hidden talent!

E.F.P.S. is going to be offering a wide variety of electives, with a cost that ranges from $0 to $50. Some electives will be held off school property, while others will be offered at the school. The dates for the Winter Well Being Electives are Friday, February 26th and Friday March 4th.

As each elective requires a certain number of students participating in order for it to occur, we would like you to indicate your child’s first, second, and third choices. If we do not have enough students in a specific elective, we will not be able to offer it. Once we have determined numbers, we will be sending home a confirmation letter with a request for payment for the selected activity.

Ellen Fairclough P.S. sets aside a portion of money raised through our fundraising efforts to support families who are experiencing periods of difficulty. This limited support is allocated through a participatory model which respects the dignity of the families and is carried out on an individual and confidential basis. If your current family circumstances are such that you would require this support in order that your son/daughter participate in the above activity please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Hamid in the office at 905-294-9455.

To register please visit the following website (This message will also be emailed to all families who have an email on file:

Please complete your child’s elective choices by Tuesday January 26th, 2016. If you are experiencing any difficulties with the online registration system, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher.

Every Wednesday at EFPS will be Boomerang Lunch & Waste-free Lunch Day.
EFPS is going for our Platinum accreditation this year for
Eco Friendly Schools, so we need everyone's
help to make our goal a reality.

What is a Boomerang Lunch?

boomerang lunch is a lunch that has every piece of it return to its source. In other words, everything in the lunch goes back home at the end of the day. No matter if it is leftover food, containers, recyclables or garbage, it all goes back.

What can we do to reduce waste?

Information Regarding School Bus Cancellations

Please check in your child’s agenda for the radio and television stations that will be announcing school bus cancellations.  This usually happens between 6:00 and 6:30 a.m. Before you make other arrangements to take you child to school when the busses have been cancelled, please consider the following:

  • Teachers will adjust the day’s program based on the fact that a number of students are not in attendance
  • There are no teachers on supervision duty until 8:15
  • If the busses are cancelled in the morning, they are also cancelled in the afternoon
  • Having more cars on the side streets and picking up and dropping off students when driving conditions are difficult may make it more dangerous for all our students
  • Walking conditions are also often more difficult on the days that the busses are cancelled

Remember, even if a child walks to school, it is always the parent’s decision to determine whether or not the conditions on snow days are such that any type of travel is unsafe. As well, on any winter day be sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather and to be outside for gym and recess.
